Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that originated in the early 20th century. It is neither a religion nor tied to any specific belief system. Instead, Reiki practitioners act as a channel for what is often described as universal life-force energy, allowing this energy to flow where it is needed for the recipient's highest good.
Many Reiki practitioners understand Reiki through the lens of the body's energetic systems, including the concept of chakras found within Ayurvedic traditions. Chakras are described as energy centres associated with different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
While the exact mechanisms behind Reiki are not yet fully understood, some people find it helpful to view Reiki alongside emerging research into the human biofield. Science has long recognised that the human body generates electrical and magnetic activity. Every heartbeat, thought, and nerve impulse relies on electrical signals, and the heart itself produces a measurable electromagnetic field extending beyond the body.
Medical technologies such as electrocardiograms (ECGs), electroencephalograms (EEGs), MRIs, and other imaging tools are based on the body's electrical and electromagnetic properties. While research into energy healing continues to evolve, many people find Reiki offers a gentle way to support relaxation, balance, and overall wellbeing.
Whether understood through spiritual, energetic, psychological, or physiological frameworks, Reiki invites the body and mind into a state of rest, allowing space for healing, reflection, and restoration.

While Reiki is often viewed as a spiritual or energetic practice, a growing body of research has explored its potential effects on physical and emotional wellbeing.
Many studies suggest that Reiki may support the body's natural relaxation response, helping individuals shift out of states of chronic stress and into a calmer, more regulated state. Researchers have observed improvements in measures associated with stress reduction, including heart rate, blood pressure, anxiety, mood, and overall wellbeing.
Potential benefits of Reiki may include:
Many clients describe Reiki as creating a rare opportunity to pause, rest, and reconnect with themselves. In today's fast-paced world, the simple act of entering a deeply relaxed state can have meaningful effects on both physical and emotional wellbeing.
As with all complementary therapies, Reiki is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent medical conditions. Instead, it can be used alongside conventional healthcare and other wellbeing practices as part of a holistic approach to health.

Distance Reiki allows you to receive Reiki from the comfort of your own home, regardless of where you are in the world. Reiki practitioners believe that energy is not limited by physical distance and can be directed intentionally across time and space. During a distance Reiki session, I connect with your energy field and channel Reiki with the intention of supporting your highest good and overall wellbeing.
Prior to your session, I will ask you to set an intention. An intention acts as a gentle focus for the Reiki session and reflects what you would like to invite into your life, body, or healing journey. Examples of intentions include:
It is important to be aware that an intention is different from an expectation. While intentions can provide direction, Reiki often works in unexpected ways. I encourage clients to hold their intention lightly and remain open to whatever experience unfolds.
Then, at the agreed session time, you are encouraged to find a quiet space where you can relax without interruption. Some people choose to lie down, meditate, journal, rest, or simply remain open to the experience. There is no need for a video call unless arranged beforehand.
Every person's experience is unique. Some people feel very little during the session itself, while others report a range of physical, emotional, energetic, or intuitive experiences. Common sensations may include:
Some clients notice changes immediately, while others become aware of shifts over the following days.
After the session, I will provide feedback on any observations, themes, or intuitive impressions that arose during the Reiki treatment. You are welcome to share your own experience, although there is never any pressure to have felt or noticed anything specific.
You do not need to believe in Reiki for a session to be worthwhile. Curiosity and openness are enough. If you'd like to book a reiki session, click here

Reiki continues to work beyond the session itself. Some people notice shifts immediately, while others become aware of subtle changes over the hours or days that follow.
As your body, mind, and energy system integrate the session, you may experience a period of adjustment. Some Reiki practitioners refer to this as a healing response or healing crisis. Not everyone experiences this, and its absence does not mean the Reiki was any less beneficial.
Possible experiences may include:
To help your body and mind process the session, I recommend:
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to support your body's natural processes.
Rest: Listen to your body and allow yourself additional rest if needed.
Be Gentle: Avoid over-scheduling yourself and create space for self-care.
Journal: Record any thoughts, emotions, dreams, or insights that arise.
Notice: Pay attention to subtle shifts in your mood, energy, relationships, or perspective over the coming days.
Healing is rarely a linear process. Sometimes what surfaces first is simply what is ready to be acknowledged, released, or transformed.
Approach your experience with curiosity, self-compassion, and openness, trusting that the integration process will unfold in its own time.
